    Admission Procedure & Requirements


    Biruni University applies the latest guidelines set by the Council of Higher Education ( YÖK – Yüksek Öğretim Kurulu ) as of 11/4/2012 in order to define who are the international students eligible to apply.

    • High-school graduates or students in senior/last year of high school, are eligible to submit ‘international student’ applications, if they fall under one of these categories :
      • Foreign national students
      • Turkish citizens by birth who have renounced their Turkish citizenship, and their children under 18 as listed in the renouncement document, as defined by The Turkish Citizenship Act, No.5901, Article 7- (1), regulating the principles regarding the acquisition and the loss of Turkish citizenship as “A child born to a married Turkish father or mother, whether in Turkey or abroad, is Turkish citizen.”. Candidates who wish to apply as ‘international student’ should further examine the Turkish Citizenship Law on that matter.
      • Citizens of other countries by birth who have acquired Turkish citizenship afterward / dual-citizenship holders.
      • Turkish citizens who have completed their middle and high school education in an institution outside Turkey, including Turkish institutions abroad (except for The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus).
      • Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus citizens who reside in The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and who have completed their secondary education in a GCE Advanced Level (AL) system, as well as those who have registered and completed their secondary education in a GCE AL system abroad between 2005-2010.

     

    • Applicants falling under the following categories are on the other hand not eligible to submit ‘international student’ applications: 
      • Turkish citizens who have completed their secondary education in Turkey or in The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
      • Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) citizens (except for those who have completed their secondary education in a GCE Advanced Level (AL) system in TRNC, and those who have registered and completed their secondary education in a GCE AL system abroad between 2005-2010).
      • Dual citizenship holders, one of which is the Turkish citizenship by birth as stated in article a) – item 2) above. (except for those who have completed their middle and high school education in another country other than The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, or those who have completed their middle and high school education in a Turkish institution in another country other than The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus).
      • Dual citizenship holders, one of which is the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) citizenship (except for those who have completed their secondary education in a GCE Advanced Level (AL) system in TRNC, and those who have registered and completed their secondary education in a GCE AL system abroad between 2005-2010).
      • Turkish citizens by birth or dual citizenship holders, one of which is the Turkish citizenship by birth and who have completed their secondary education inTurkey, either in institution affiliated to an foreign embassy or in a foreign high school.

    Minimum Grades Required for International Tests or National Diplomas

    Candidates who do not have the exam scores mentioned above;

    For those who graduated from abroad, a minimum of 80% success will be required in their transcripts/diplomas for the Faculty of Medicine, 70% for Faculty of Dentistry and Faculty of Pharmacy and a minimum of 60% for other departments and programs.
