    Erasmus+ Internship Mobilities applications for the 2023 Project period is now open. You can submit your online application through https://turnaportal.ua.gov.tr/ between January 29th and February 19th. Please be informed that there will be an additional time period for submitting an acceptance letter by 26  Februay 2024. To help you with the application process, you can access the Turna Portal application guide through this link.

    Please note that the mobilities can begin as of June, 2024. As the project period will end on July 31, 2025, you must complete your mobilities by this date.

    Erasmus+ Traineeship Mobility

    Student mobility for traineeship enables students at higher education institutions to spend a placement (traineeship/internship) period between minimum 2 maximum 12 months in an enterprise or organization in another participating country. A traineeship is a period of time that a student can spend in an enterprise or organization in another participating country, with the aim to help rove work experience. The traineeship period assists the students in their future professional lives.

    Application Criteria:

    1. Being a full time student at Biruni University,
    2. Being completed the 1st semester of the 1st yearof their respected studies,
    3. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) at the time of the application;
      Minimum 2.20/4.00 CGPA for Associate Degree and Bachelor Degree

    Minimum 3.00/4.00 CGPA for Master’s and PhD Degree

    Important Information Regarding Your Application:

    1. The Turna Portal online application system will be open until February 19th, Monday, 23:59. Any applications that are incomplete after the given deadline will not be taken into consideration.
    2. You must upload your Transcript of Records document to the application system which includes your 2023/24 Fall Semester’ Grade Point Average.
    3. If you upload an acceptance letter to the system by Monday, February 19th, 23:59, you will be given priority on the evaluation process.
    4. If you have completed your application but haven’t been able to upload your acceptance letter before February 19th, you’ll have additional time to upload your acceptence letter by February 26th, 2024, at 13:00. After February 26th, 2024, at 13:00, the system will be permanently closed and any documents will not be accepted.
    5. You can only submit one acceptance letter from one institution.
    6. Once you have completed your online application, you cannot change your acceptance letter or the country you will go to, unless there is a force majeure.
    7. Applications that are incomplete or contain incorrect statements will not be accepted.
    8. If you are studying in a double major, you can only apply for mobility from one major during the same application period.
    9. Students studying in a foreign language preparatory class, scientific preparatory program, those who have suspended their registration/study at Biruni University, and graduated before the application period cannot apply.
    10. Students who graduate from the faculties of Pharmacy, Medicine, or Dentistry and are placed in our university through central exams (TUS, DUS, EUS) and continue their specialist education cannot benefit from Erasmus+ student mobility if they are not registered students of our university.

    Finding an Internship Placement & Acceptance Letter:

    To participate in the Erasmus program, your acceptance letter must be approved by the Erasmus Coordinator of your department. Please review the list of Erasmus+ Department/Faculty Coordinators at this link.

    You can see the list of Erasmus+ agreements containing student quota for internships mobility via this link. Please be aware that, based on the internship date and content, partner institutions may reject your application.

    The host institution/company can be any public or private organization active in the labor market or in the fields of education, training and youth in Erasmus+ Program Countries.

    It is not appropriate to do Erasmus+ traineeship in the European Union institutions, National Agencies and institutions that manage EU programs and work within the Erasmus+ projects.

    Evaluation Criteria:

    * Grades will be converted to the 100 point scale

     

    • Erasmus+ Language Exam is valid for 2 years. The other language certificates listed above are valid for 5 years.
    • If the total scores of a few students are equal after all criteria are considered, the student with the higher academic grade score is given priority. If their academic grade scores are also equal, the younger student is given pirority.
    • Deductions are made depending on the overall score of the student.
    • The total scores obtained by the students are sorted from highest to highest, and the placed and wait-listed candidates are selected and declared by KVKK requirements.
    • The right to participate in Erasmus+ student mobility for one academic year cannot be transferred to another academic year.

     

    Grant Payment Procedure:

    Erasmus student selection and granting is carried out by ranking the scores from highest to lowest among the students who apply by meeting the minimum conditions, taking into account the evaluation criteria and weighted scores announced by the National Agency. Within the 2023 Project Term Traineeship Mobility Applications 9 students at the top of the list in the score ranking will be supported with a grant. The internship mobility grant will be given to 9 people in different amounts depending on their education level as follows:

    • 7 Associate Degree/ Bachelor Degree Students,
    • 2 Master’s/ PhD Students

     

    Students who has been placed as ‘’granted pricipal status’’ will be granted. And those students who will benefit from Erasmus+ mobility will be given a maximum of 2 months (60 days) of grant support.

     

    Erasmus+ Grant:

    Amount of monthly grants is announced by Turkish National Agency according to the cost of living in the country of destination, grouped in three categories below:

    Grants are paid to students in two instalments. 80% of the grant is paid before mobility and the remaining 20% is paid after return. Final grant amount is determined according to the dates stated in Certificate of Attendance and remaining payment is made accordingly.

     

    Grant Deduction:

    1. a) Except for technical reasons, you should fill out an online participant survey after the mobility otherwise 20% will be deducted from the total final grant.
    2. b) If documents proving participation for the mobility (Certificate of Participation or transcript (ToR)) is not submitted, the mobility will be void and no grant is paid; first grant payment is expected to be refunded.

     

    Erasmus+ Without Grant Option (Zero Grant Option):

    Students can participate to the program without receiving the grant. Please keep in mind that they still need to go through the same application procedures and submit the required documents. Zero-grant students are not eligible for green travel grant.

     

    Erasmus students, whether they receive an Erasmus grant or not are exempted from paying fees for tuition, registration, examinations and access to laboratory and library facilities at the host institution however, any fees, including insurance, residence permit, transportation card or copy of academic materials, that are regularly paid by local students should also be paid by Erasmus students.

     

    Green Travel Grant:

    With the new Erasmus+ Program students are encouraged to use low emissions means of transport for the main part of the travel, such as bus, train, or carpooling. Students who will use these means of transport will receive a single contribution of 50 EUR as a top-up amount to the individual support and up to 4 days of extra grant to cover travel days for a return trip, if relevant.

     

    At the end of the mobility, students are obliged to present documents (bus ticket, train ticket etc.) proving that the green travel has taken place.

     

    Additional Grant For Students With Financial Needs (Only Applicable To Students Who Hold Turkish Citizenship):

    Economically disadvantaged students who are selected for the Study Mobility will be paid an extra grant of 250 € per month from the study mobility budget, in addition to the amount of monthly grant specified in TABLE A.

     

    • Students who are covered by the 2828 numbered Social Services Law (official proving document is needed)
    • Students who are covered by the 5395 numbered Child Protection Law
    • Students who receive orphan’s pension (official proving document is needed)
    • Children of martyr and veterans (official proving document is needed)
    • Student or the student’s parents receive financial aid

    To benefit from the additional grant the student must submit the document indicating either the student or the student’s parents receive financial aid from municipalities, public institutions such as: Ministries, Social Welfare and Solidarity Foundations, T.R. Directorate General of Foundations, Turkish Red Crescent, Ministry of Interior Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).

     

    Please note that the documents should be submitted during the application phase.

     

    Inclusion Support:

    The Erasmus+ Program encourages the participation of people with special needs in the program. A person with special needs is a potential participant whose personal physical condition, mental state or health condition does not allow him/her to participate in the project/mobility activity, unless extra financial support is available. In order for an additional grant to be given to students and staff who need special needs support, it is necessary to request an additional grant from the Turkish National Agency by the beneficiary higher education institution. If the participant who has special needs support is selected, if the participant has additional grant request, the approximate additional costs are determined and additional grant is requested from the National Agency.
